Philippine Army coordinating with FM family for LNMB funeral
MANILA – The Philippine Army (PA) is coordinating with the family of the late president Ferdinand Edralin Marcos in the wake of the Supreme Court’s dismissal Tuesday of the petition opposing the interment of the late strongman at Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB).
Army Spokesman Col. Benjamin Hao acknowledged to defense reporters in a patched telephone briefing that construction of the Marcos tomb resumed right after the high court issued its decision junking the petition against the burial.
The army spokesman said that, as the protocol officer, he immediately coordinated with the Marcos family to ask them about their concerns and details that need to be addressed in preparation for prospective funeral.
“The Marcos family are likewise awaiting other details for pushing through with the final coordination, such as the date of the burial,” Hao disclosed.
Hao confirmed that the construction has been reactivated, after it was briefly halted by a Temporary Restraining Order issued by the High Court.
He added that the pathway leading to the tomb is now being paved as construction work picked up again.
When asked about the marker that will be placed on the site, Hao pointed out that what were authorized, so far, was a tomb and/or a statue.
